Brief 1: Music for Film

for this 2 minute clip I firstly went through the clip marking any moments I thought would be a good point for a transition or change in the melody or sound that I create, I did this buy using the marker tool in logic adding a mark at these moments

the clip I used involved scenes of a planet in space, a horse kind of flowing in a field, a woman standing in rain and a group of people outside a house standing in what looks like a field, I focused on the environment and how it changed for the

I used a quite slow tempo of 109bpm as I though it fit the movement of the clip, for the first section which was around 30 seconds I layered strings, a synth and an electric guitar to create an electronic and organic atmosphere, the synth and electric guitar came in first with the synth playing a chord and the guitar playing another, then as the clip progressed and the planet moved I added in the strings with a new chord to follow loosely the movement of the planet, when the clip transitioned to the horse I added a kick and a bass, I used the kick as a sort of representation of the horses movement an the bass to add a wider depth as the horse clip looked a lot darker, I also got rid of the synth and guitar, then for the next section I added a snare and a melody which was a representation of the atmosphere and whether sounding like rain drops, finally the ending of the clip went back to the planet in space so I reintroduced the synths and strings from the start. all the sound was non diegetic and I didn’t add any foley

throughout the process I changed a lot of the sounds I used as I tried to find sounds that I thought fit the clip well, and changed the arrangement of the chords, drums and melody to make sure they came in at appropriate times to not make the transition and movements in the clips too noticeable.
